Lettuce

. Heirloom lettuce 

 This is a mainstay crop for both homesteading and market growers.  We carry a variety for almost any slot and variety choice. 

 No csa box is complete without some lettuce

 Will grow almost year round in zones 7 and above  you will need about 3 ounces of seed for every market you do.  Or for 25 csa boxes.  

 A family or community garden can get away with only 2 ounces of seed. 

Our lettuce seed is untreated and all heirloom open pollinated non GMO. 

  Lettuce is a cool weather crop, so keep in mind if you're planting in summer or in hot areas they will need shade, try to keep them shaded during the hottest part of the day.
For baby leaf varieties, you can use a different method to plant than most other seeds, you can sprinkle them close together, the only thing you need to make sure is that they're planted at least 1/4 of an inch into the soil.
For heading varieties (Romaine, Iceberg, etc,) you need to ensure is that they're planted with at least 1foot of spacing between each plant.
**Please note: Be careful, if your plant starts going to seed, harvest them immediately  otherwise they will turn extremely bitter**
