Hello farmers.  Turnips are a very easy root crop to grow some areas you can without irrigation most folks these days grow for easy livestock food to you can around 20 tons a acre very quickly with these.     And turnips are cold tolerant not to many folks eat these now a days.  But if you have the space and some barn yard friends definitely plant some we recommend seeding at about 4 pounds of seed a acre. If you have a small corral get 4 ounces of seed.

Turnips can be planted almost year round anywhere in the U.S,. We recommend succession planting, plus if you have the extra space, turnips are a favourite for all of your four-legged farmyard friends.
If planting in bulk you need at least 3 pounds of seed per acre of land.
if planting fresh turnips for your family, you need to plant at least 5 feet per person and you can harvest turnips every 2 weeks.
For spacing you need to plant at least 6 inches apart covered with 1/2 an inch of soil.
You can expect germination in 3-5 days.
If your planting for your four-legged friends you can rake the seeds into the soil.
Harvesting, for the greens (the tops) expect about 30 days and for the bulbs 50-60 days depending on your preferred size
