Collection: Summer squash

Summer squash is like the gift that keeps on giving.  We carry a wide variety of summer squash all open pollinated heirloom.   The average variety takes about 50 days to start producing and goes until fall. We recommend that those who are growing for market have 4 varieties for each market or 4 varieties per 25 csa boxes. Choose varieties that are not in the stores

Summer squash does not need transplanting.

Summer squash seeds you should put about an inch into the soil
(cover it with soil, keep it moist)

Summer squash cannot tolerate frost so plant them after the soil warms up and space them about 2 feet apart in any direction.
Germination takes 5-7 days ideally should be watered at least twice.

**Please note Mice & Voles love squash seeds so check for any mice or vole activity, if found, you may need to replant**

You should be able to harvest 40-45 days after plants have emerged,
and after you pick your first couple, enjoy the bounty of your garden.
