The red poppy, also known as Papaver rhoeas, is a flowering plant in the poppy family with many common names, including corn poppy, corn rose, field poppy, Flanders poppy, and Odai.
These poppies are truly iconic, commonly seen around Rememerance Sunday service. These poppies are used in remembrance for those in the Armed Forces who died fighting for our freedoms in wars throughout history.
These flowers are truly beautiful with their striking scarlet blooms which are also beneficial for pollinators such as bees.
***Planting Instructions***
Poppies need to be planted into soil that has already been watered.
They grow best in full sun. Once planted they need to be well-watered but not water logged.
The best time for planting poppies would be from March until May and they'll bloom from July to October.
Most varieties of poppies are drought-resistant and will attract bees and butterflies.
Deadhead these flowers if you're not wanting further seeds.
