These are bulbettes for good old fashioned bunching or multiplying onion you plant a bulbette and they multiply with nice green tops. These are fall to spring planted. And are very hardy
As a child we had a leaky hose bibb we put some of these in a planter at the leak. We never had store bought onions again you can break off a clump of onions every so often they just keep growing.
