Noir des Carmes

The Noir des Carmes is an Heirloom French melon. Finally, an Heirloom French melon that grows great in the north! This variety has been around since the 1800s in markets in Europe; the exact origin is not known. It will produce a nice ribbed, orange flesh melon; and the rind will turn orange when ripe. These do not store a long time and are best eaten when ripe. To our farmers market friends, these will be a hit!! Everyone loves these as they are a true cantaloupe.
