Hearts of gold melon  

  Takes 80 to 90 days from seed  and is a very sweet and juicey melon.  Not quite as big as others but not a personal sized one either  

  This is a classic heirloom variety. 

 That's hardy and not fussy at all.  

   Melons don't like there roots messed with at all 

 So if your going to start em indoors 

 Try and use pulp pots or ice cream cones to start them so you can plant the hole thing into the ground 

 This will almost eliminate transplant shock 

Which takes about 2 or 3 days to recover from 

And those of us that are in short growing season areas

 It's a big deal. 

 Also keep the weed pressure down 

  We are zone 6b sometimes if we are having a cold spring we will use a nurse crop with the Melons like barley or oats or rye
