Dipper gourds are another gourd variety which are perfect for crafts. This variety can be used for so many different things like birdhouses and drinking vessels, you're only really limited by your own imagination! Another use for these gourds would be using them for water or feed dippers for animals.
Dippper gourds are large with a long, curved neck and bulbous "dipper" on the end.
Green in colour whilst still growing but once they've been harvested and dried, they change to a tan or brown colour.
***Planting Instructions***
Plant dipper gourds early in the season and they require full sun in order to thrive.
It's best to leave Dipper gourds on the vine until  just before the last frost, only harvesting once the gourd is completely ripe.
Once harvested, wash these gourds with a strong disinfectant to remove all the traces of dirt and fungi.
***A STRONG WORD OF CAUTION***
Unlike other gourd varieties, dipper gourds are considered toxic, therefore they should NOT be eaten.

Before Planting: Choose a location with full sun and fertile, well-drained soil is best, with a pH of 6.0-7.0. Row covers can and should be used to establish seedlings but removed when first flowers begin to form. Gourds can also be grown on sturdy trellises.
