Crimson Sweet Orange Watermelon

Crimson Sweet Orange Watermelon has a maturity date of 95 days. This orange flesh watermelon is the sweetest of all the tender sweet watermelons. It has a tough rind, which makes it a wonderful shipper. This variety needs a long growing season and is a wonderful addition to the family garden or to our farmer's market friends. It's possible for our northern gardening friends to grow this one, but you will need to transplant. The Crimson Sweet grows up to around 20 pounds, which is big for an orange melon. It's been thought that the these orange watermelon varieties came from South Africa many centuries ago. This is a 100 percent, Heirloom, Non-GMO garden seed. Happy growing!!!

This variety will grow in the northern tier of the usa we are in zone 6b and we have no issue growing this one

 We do plant on black mulch and use drip irrigation 

We direct seed the middle to end if may 

   If your going to transplant use pulp pots not plug trays.  

Sow indoors from April to May about 1cm deep in pots. Place somewhere warm to aid germination. Once the first set of true leaves appears, transplant them to larger pots for a few weeks. Harden off once all risk of frost has passed and keep somewhere sheltered and sunny. Water regularly and feed with a liquid fertiliser every 14 days.
