A Beginner's Guide To Growing Cold Tolerant Tomatoes

Hey Guys,
I hope everyone is doing well.

Growing cold tolerant tomatoes doesn't have to be a challenge... even if you live in a cooler climate.. you don't have to miss out on growing tomatoes. The key here is choosing the right varieties. In chillier climates, you're best bet is to grow tomato varieties that can handle  colder weather.

These varieties will grow in areas that  normally won't produce tomatoes.  These are hardy and  are filled with home grown tomato goodness.

  • Sunlight: Tomatoes thrive in full sun. Choose a location that receives at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight daily.
  • Soil Quality: Tomatoes prefer well-drained, fertile soil with a pH between 6.0 and 6.5. Amend the soil with compost or aged manure to improve its texture and nutrient content.
  • Spacing: Space your tomato plants 18-24 inches apart to allow for adequate air circulation and prevent disease.
  • Planting Depth: Plant your tomato seedlings deep enough so that the first set of leaves is just below the soil line.
  • Watering: Water your tomato plants deeply after planting, and continue to water regularly, especially during dry periods.
