 Dry beans are a great dual purpose garden favorite to grow.  The first is to put em on the table. Make supper a family affair by involving everyone planting picking. Cooking.    

 But  dry beans have something that most folks over look.  These are a great soil builder and will put literally tons of nitrogen into your soil  

 Some folks use dry beans for pasture. In the fall into winter.
