The Benefits Of Sustainable Gardening
Share

Hey Guys,
I hope everyone is doing well.
First off, I'd like to offer my sincerest apologies for the lack of updates on this blog recently, sometimes life simply gets in the way and unfortunately I'd simply run out of steam to continue finding something to write about, but taking a break has helped find new things to explore and share my knowledge with you guys.
As I've mentioned many times before on this blog, sustainability is at the heart of what we do here at Farm Hands Seeds and it's something I truly believe in.
So for today, I wanted to talk a little about the benefits of making your garden a little more sustainable.
So let's dive right in....
Sustainability truly is some of the keys to help tackle the current environmental challenges that each one of us here on this big blue marble are facing, and the evidence of this is all around us, even if not everyone is willing to look and acknowledge it. All of us have a role to play and every small step can and will make a difference, no matter how small the step is, it will help in the long run. I've always been passionate about sustainability and I want you to take a journey with me as we delve into the world of sustainability and everything I learn along the way, I want to share with you guys.
Let's take a closer look into the benefits of sustainable gardening:
1: Increases & Protects Biodiversity In Your Garden- One of the biggest problems with the more traditional methods of gardening is that traditional gardening methods are responsible for biodiversity loss. The reason for this is that traditional methods of gardening are reliant on the use of chemicals such as chemical fertilizers and pesticides.
Pesticides have also been shown to be responsible for a reduction in the biodiversity of soil, even decades after the usage has been stopped due to their persistence in the soil.
To keep your soil microbiome healthy and able to support your plants, refrain from using any kind of chemicals and pesticides, digging and as an alternative you can also consider adding probiotics for your garden to your soil.
2: Saves Water- I've spoken many times about how an important and precious a resource water is, all of us can do a little more to reduce our water usage in our gardens because if things carry on the way they are now, sooner rather than later, many of us will face the very real threat of water shortages in the very near future which as we all know by now can be a huge disaster for our gardens.
If you're lucky enough to live in an area which benefits from a good amount if annual rainfall per year, there are many ways in which you can recycle the rainwater.
3: Sustainable Gardening Keeps Hope In Mind For Future Generations- This benefit is one that cannot be understated. One of my main goals in life is to leave this world a slightly better place than when I came here. This is one of the many reasons why I support and believe in sustainable gardening.
All of us have a responsibility to take care of this bug blue marble with the time that we're lucky enough to have. The benefits of sustainable gardening are that we are able to pass down valuable skills such as growing healthy food, environmental stewardship and the drive to take care of this big blue marble that we're lucky enough to call home long into the future which is a little hope for all of us in these trying times.
Thank you for reading.
Until Next Time,
Kim.
