The Benefits Of A Summer Garden
Share
Hey Guys,
I hope everyone is doing well.
As mentioned in my earlier posts, today's focus is all about preparing your garden for summer, so for now we're looking at the benefits of a summer garden.
So let's dive right in:
Okay, so summer is probably the best time of year to spend as much time outdoors as possible. The days are longer and the weather is much better, so it's time to take full advantage.
Having a summer garden also gives us the opportunity to deepen our connection to nature.
A connection to nature is so important because many of us feel like we're separate from nature, that somehow we've lost that connection we once had to the natural world around us, but I'm here to remind you that nature is as part of us just as much as we are part of nature. When we lost that connection to nature, we also lost that connection to ourselves....
Another benefit of having a summer garden is that it saves time and money because you can grow your own produce. Going outside into your own backyard for food to use for lunch and dinner sounds so much more appealing than trekking to the supermarket.
Not to mention, home-grown food is much fresher and healthier than anything you'll find at the supermarket. Plus you can also make it a fun activity for the whole family, get little ones involve in helping harvest your homegrown delights, it's healthier fod for the whole family and it's more time spent together as a family.... What could be better?
Oftentimes, this benefit of spending time outdoors in the garden is overlooked. Gardening really can improve your health because it's a lot of physical activity, a day in the garden can be just as good for your health as a day in the gym, and it's a far less expensive option!
In addition, spending time outdoors can really help improve your mental well-being. Being outside can boost your spirits and relieve anxiety.
These are just some of the many benefits of having a summer garden.
Next up in this series, we're moving on to autumn.
Thank you for reading,
Until next time,
Kim
