Seed Growing Journey- Learning From My Mistakes

Hey Guys,
I just wanted to talk a little but more aboit some of the mistakes I've made so far in my seed growing journey.
I'm sharing my experiences in the hopes that you guys can learn from it and not repeat the same mistakes that I've made along the way.
I've always said that I'm going to share as much as I can when it comes to my seed growing journey... the good times and the bad times.
Spacing... this is something that I've struggled with from the start and I've masde many... many mistakes when it comes to this, just look at the pictures from my recent post about the pink icicle radish, what I've learned from that is that my radish plants are spaced too close together... I'm now using the radish greens for salads because I've severely impaired the plants ability to gorw and the veggies won't grow as successfully... so I cannot underestimate the importance of accurate spacing!
If you take a closer look at the products we have available here at Farm Hand Seeds, you'll see we've included planting advice which includes recommended spacing... Don't underestimate this advice! I'm making these mistakes so you don't have to :)

Along with plant spacing, another mistake I've made a few times now is planting depth! No matter how many times I tried when I was first starting out.. I just couldn't get it right!

When I planted my first lot of sunflowers, the recommended planting depth was an inch into the soil... somehow, I ended up planting my sunflowers at least 5 inches down... so it's really no surprise that these sunflowers didn't exactly germinate in the way that I'd expected, but these are all things that I've learned from!

I think my biggest mistake when I was first starting out on my seed growing journey was getting a little too excited and rushing into things without thinking things through.. sometimes the slower approach is the better way.

There's one final thing I'd like to talk about... pest control! But that deserves a blog post of it's own because if you've been following along with my seed growing journey this far... you'll know that I've already lost a lot of what I was growing to slugs and snails.

This has been an interesting way to look back at some of the mistakes that I've made along the way.

Thank you for reading,
until next time,
Kim
