Reasons Why We Should Be Supporting Local Farmers & Farmer's Markets (Part Two)

Hey Guys,
I hope you're all doing well.

This post follows on from the first half. I feel like this is something really important and the benefits of supporting small local businesses and small farms by using farmer's markets will really make a huge difference to your local community.

So let's take a closer look into why we should all be supporting farmer's markets.

Well first off, the fruits and veggies you get at the farmer's markets really are the freshest and tastiest available, you'll never experience anything like it! When it comes to fruits and veggies from the bigger grocery stores and the like, they are not as fresh as you'd like and that came as a huge surprise to me personally when I learned that recently. Farmer's markets on the other hand are totally different, the fruits and veggies are allowed to fully ripen in the fields and are brought directly to you.

What could be better?

Another positive thing about supporting farmer's markets is you can enjoy fresh fruits and veggies that are truly in season, getting the freshest produce whilst in peak season, nothing could be better.

Thirdly I'd like to mention that supporting farmer's markets also means you are supporting small family farms. That is a huge bonus and it can make a huge difference to the family farms and farmers. It can really give them a head start and supports their livelihoods which is something you, as the consumer, can be really proud of. For small family farms a little really does go a long way.
Fourth, I'd like to mention the positive impact supporting local farmer's markets has on the environment.

We can all do a little more to help out Mother Nature, but buying fresh produce directly from a local farmer's markets reduces the use of harmful packaging materials such as plastic. Plus, unlike fruits and veggies at the grocery store which more often than not, have travelled a long way to be on the shelf at the grocery store which has a negative impact on the environment. Fruits and veggies at the farmer's markets usually travel much shorter distances and don't contain the same amounts of harmful chemicals, which is a huge advantage to those of us wanting to provide our families with the healthiest food available.
Lastly, when you buy fresh produce from the farmer's market, you have the advantage of knowing exactly where your food comes from, that's an added bonus to ensure that you and your family are eating the best produce out there.

I've said this so many times before... and I'll say it again, I'm not here to tell you how to live your lives, I'm just giving you alternative things to think about.

Thank you for reading,
Until next time,
Kim
