Perennial Flower Ideas For A Summer Garden

This post follows on from the previous post about flower ideas for different times of year.

This time around we're looking at summer time flowers.

So let's dive right in:

1: Sweet Peas-Sweetpeas add a delicate sense of colour to your summer time garden and the sweet scent of sweetpeas are simply irressistable and bees and butterflies love sweetpeas.
2: Bellflowers- Bellflowers have long been a favourite among cottage gardeners and they bloom in an abundance of colours such as white,pink, purple or blue.
3: Coneflowers- This North American praire native is an important source of nectar for insect pollinators. In addition, these flowers provide a food source for songbirds throughout the fall and winter.These cone-shaped blooms come in pink, white, yellow, green, red and sunset hues.
4: Lavender- These flowers have many different uses from medicinal, culinary and ornimental. Lavender prefers hot, dry conditions, lean soil and good drainage.
5: Shasta Daisy- These are a classic summer time perennial with white petals and a yellow center. This flowers attract butterflies and many oher insect pollinators.These daisies are tolerant of drought and different soil types. They do however, need good drainage in order to thrive.
