Perennial Flower Ideas For A Spring Garden
Share
Hey Guys,
I hope you're all doing well.
For today I wanted to give you a guys an idea of some of the best perennial flowers for a spring time garden.
These flower are known as the early-perennial flowers because after the long, hard, dark winter months have finally passed, these are the first-blooms that add a touch of colour to your garden.
So let's dive right in:
1: Viola- Viola's are the smaller cousin to the pansy and they offer masses of tiny, delicate blooms of perennial flowers which bloom from spring until fall given the right conditions.. Violas bloom in an abundance of colours from white, blue, purple and yellow to many others, and as an added bonus, these flowers are edible and make a great addition to a salad.
2: Bluebells- Bluebells are the absolute vision of spring blooms, creating a sea of delicate flowers, that contrary to the name, bloom in other colours besides blue, such as white, purple and pink.
The only downside to bluebells is that once they have bloomed, they practically disappear, so I would recommend planting other perennials alongside bluebells for a consistent sense of colour in your garden. Bluebells make a great companion for daffodils.
3: Peony- Peonies are another classic spring time bloom and are one of the most-loved spring flowers out there. Peonies bloom in an abundance of different colours such as red, rose, pink, salmon, white and yellow. Peony plants are famously long-lived and can bloom for decades with very little care.
4: Iris: Iris are stunning blooms with their crepe-paper like petals and intricate blooms, it makes them a perfect flower for spring time. These delicate flowers will bloom into the beginning of summer. Flower colours include white, purple, orange, yellow, blue and pink.
5: Asters: Aster flowers look very much like little stars. These beautiful flowers bloom all the way from early spring right up until the first frost in the fall.
Asters typically flower in deep purple and lavender colours, but there's also white and pink varieties.
Bees and butterflies love aster flowers.
