How Gardening Affects Mental Health: The Benefits

Hey guys,
I hope everyone is doing well.

For today, I just wanted to talk a little about how gardening and spending time outdoors has a positive impact on mental health.
Before we dive right in... I just want to say, if you ever find yourself struggling with your mental health... you're not alone and there is help out there. It's okay not to be okay.

For me personally, I've always found that when life gets stressful and when I'm having trouble with anxiety, spending time outdoors really does help, I know it's something small but trust me it really does help. Spending time in nature reminds me to slow down... to take a breath and look at the situation. Nature goes at it's own pace and that's something I find really helpful when life gets overwhelming. No matter what happens all around us... nature keeps going... just like we should keep going.

Gardening can make you feel peaceful and a lot less stressed, it's been proven that gardening can help reduce stress levels. It's time outside which can help you relax and feel more at ease and feel more content. In addition, helping a plant grow from a tiny little seed... all the way to a fully grown plant can give you a strong sense of accomplishment and can also encourage you to keep going even when things get tough.
I've found that even when things all around me are going wrong... caring for my plant babies helps me feel like I'm doing something right.

Gardening is also known as a form of physical activity which has been known to boost your mood and make you feel good about yourself.

This has been just a quick look at some of the mental health benefits of gardening and spending time outdoors.

Thank you for reading,
Until next time,
Kim
