Getting Children Involved In Farming

Hey Guys
I hope everyone is doing well
For today I wanted to talk about the importance of getting children involved in farming.
Farming has been around for a long and with the ever growing rise of commercial farming we need to do as much as possible to safeguard the future of farming for generations to come and that starts with getting children involved.
As you can see in the world of farming the majority of farms are small family run farms, with endless sources of knowledge being passed down from one generation to the next and in my eyes that’s something we should all appreciate, support and preserve.
So why is it important to get children involved in farming?
Well firstly... its essential that children learn where exactly their food comes from so that they better understand the entire process of farm to table. Having the knowledge of where their food comes from broadens their minds, opening a gateway into learning new skills.
Another reason why it’s important to get children involved on farming is that its a method of encouraging a healthier lifestyle, spending time outdoors, bonding as a family, allowing children to express themselves in nature really is fundamental for a child’s development, by spending time in nature they’re experiencing the world first hand and it teaches children the value of hard work.
Children who grow up on farms become independent quickly and it also helps children learn a sense of compassion for the natural world and all other living beings on this big blue marble.
Plus getting children involved in farming is a lesson in equality, we all need the same things to survive no matter where we come from, although it doesn’t always feel like it but we truly are all in this together.
Children who grow up valuing our natural resources will naturally be more inclined to take care of it in future, and even help pave the way towards a more environmentally-friendly way of life.
When we look at the state of the world on a global scale with the rising costs of living, the aftermath of a global pandemic... our climate is in crisis and war seems to be our universal language. We all need to do what we can to make the world around us just that little bit better, since we’re all living on the same big blue marble we all have a responsibility to leave this place in a better shape than what found it, and even the smallest act of kindness can create a ripple effect out into the wider world.
I feel like there’s a lot more I could say about this, but I’ll leave it there for now, and if you’ve read this far into my ramblings, thank you!
Thank you for reading,
Until next time,
Kim
