Childhood Memories (Part One)

Hey Guys,
I hope everyone is doing well.

The first few blog posts this week are going to be a little different than the usual things I've been posting about so I'd really appreciate it if you guys could humour me for a little while...

I wanted to share with you some stories from my own childhood, the purpose of this is so that you guys can get to know the person behind this blog, I want to add a little personal touch to this blog.

It's hard to know exactly where to start with this, I'm not used to talking about myself all that much, I'm more of a listener than a talker, but I'll give it my best shot...

I've been lucky enough to grow up in rural Wales (UK), in a part of the world where farming is the backbone to our way of life, although I didn't personally grow up on a farm.... there was a number of farms close by.

Nature has always been at the heart of what I do in life, as a child, I spent more time outside than in... and that's how it should be...
which brings me to a favourite memory from my childhood...

Growing up, I was always extremely close to my grandfather and he was the one to teach me how to grow veggies from a young age... One of my favourites was the tomatoes from his greenhouse!

I remember helping my grandpa in the greenhouse at every chance I got, I first started helping even before I was tall enough to see over the shelves and these memories are even more sentimental now that my grandpa is no longer with us.

Have you ever tried a tomato fresh from the greenhouse?! Nothing beats the the taste of tomatoes fresh from the vine.. trust me, try it for yourselves and thank me later! Tomatoes were a really fun introduction into the world of growing my own veggies and I'm sad to say that I didn't try this again until very recently and I'm reminded so much of my childhood with my grandpa..

There was always a reward for working hard in the greenhouse... my grandpa always gave us a bag of freshly picked tomatoes to take home with us, some of them didn't make it home since they were eaten along the way, and there's no better feeling than the accomplishment of seeing something you've worked so hard on finally flourishing and tasty tomatoes are their own reward.

I've still got a few more stories to share,

So if you've managed to read this far, thank you!
Until next time,
Kim
